Click on a question below to see the answer:

What kind of grade will my student end up with?

Online Courses
Because Keystone Credit Recovery is meant to close the failure gap for a course already taken at your school, the student's grade is at the discretion of your school official. Keystone assigns a numerical grade for online courses.

Correspondence Courses
Because Keystone Credit Recovery is meant to close the failure gap for a course already taken at your school, the student's grade is at the discretion of your school official. Keystone assigns a Pass/Fail grade for correspondence courses.

How are grades reported?

Once the course has been scored, one report will be sent to the student's home and one to the guidance counselor at the school of record. However, your school can opt at the time of enrollment to be the only recipient of grades.

Is there academic support?

It is the responsibility of the student and parents to make sure the work is getting done in a timely way. Students can submit academic questions via email and will receive an answer within 1 business day.

Are there deadline extensions?

The assigned due date is a major student responsibility, and 99% of our enrollees complete their units on time. Keystone will extend the due date one week, if the student or parent/guardian contacts Keystone BEFORE the assigned due date. However, from May 15 through June 15, and from August 15 through September 15, Keystone will extend due dates only if requested by the student's counselor.

How much time does a student have to complete a unit or multiple units?

Online Courses
Single units (Part A or B) must be completed in a minimum of 4 weeks and a maximum of 8 weeks. Students combining units (Parts A and B combined) must complete the course work in a minimum of 6 weeks and a maximum of 12 weeks.

Correspondence Courses
Single units are due in six weeks. Students must keep the materials for a minimum of 3 weeks. Students enrolling in more than one unit will have one additional week per unit. For example, students enrolled in 3 units will have an 8-week due date.

How quickly can the units be completed?

Online Courses
Online units take 60-75 hours (Part A or Part B), or 120-140 hours if the student needs both Part A and Part B.

Correspondence Courses
Correspondence units take an average of 30-40 hours to complete.

How long does it take for students to get program materials?

Online Courses
All course materials are available online* and students will receive an email with instructions on how to access their courses within 1 business day.

*Some courses may require the student to obtain additional materials, such as novels. Please refer to the course catalog for any additional requirements.

Correspondence Courses

How does credit recovery work?

Keystone Credit Recovery offers students two ways to complete credit recovery units: online or through correspondence.

Online Courses
Students enrolling in online courses receive an email with instructions on how to access their courses. They submit quizzes and tests online and get immediate feedback with the exception of English, where some writing assignments will be teacher graded.

Correspondence Courses
Students enrolling in one or more correspondence courses receive program materials by mail. They complete the course work, including assignments, and mail it back. Our evaluators assign a pass/fail grade.
