How It Works: Administration Options
Designed to provide schools with a sound educational alternative, Keystone Credit Recovery requires little or no administrative involvement on the part of your staff. For schools with limited resources, our program is an ideal solution when operated as is.
However, Keystone Credit Recovery recognizes that not all schools are the same. In some cases, schools may have unique needs that require more "hands-on" involvement. Our goal is to offer a year-round "summer school" program that's as flexible as possible. That's why we offer the following options:
Official Endorsement Option (correspondence courses only)
Found on the last page of every correspondence subject extension, this statement requires a school official's authorizing signature. Your signature indicates that you have reviewed your student's completed materials before they are returned to Keystone for evaluation.
In this case, materials are sent to the student. The student completes his or her assignments and exercises. Prior to mailing completed materials back to Keystone for evaluation, the student makes an appointment with his or her school counselor or designated school official. Together they review the materials.
If the student's materials are completed to the school official's satisfaction, the official completes the Official Endorsement. At this point, either the school or the student mails the completed materials to Keystone for evaluation. This is an excellent option to ensure that students do their own work and stay on task.
Mail to School Only Option (correspondence courses only)
School counselors may wish to have requested correspondence courses mailed to their school for distribution to enrollees. Students may then mail completed materials to Keystone Credit Recovery for evaluation, or return completed materials to the school and the school returns completed materials to Keystone for evaluation. Keystone evaluates completed materials and sends grade reports to the school only.
This option allows schools to better ensure that students actually enroll, have received their materials, stay on task, complete their work, and that completed work has been returned to Keystone for evaluation in a timely manner.
This option also allows schools to direct that all grade reports issued at the completion of students' enrollments be sent only to the school. Unlike our regular program, where both students and school officials receive grade reports upon completion, "Mail to School Only" students do not receive a copy of their grade reports. Students must contact their school officials for their results.
The Mail to School Only option, once initiated, must apply to all students. Keystone Credit Recovery cannot send grade reports to some students, and not others, enrolled from the same school. Please contact Keystone Credit Recovery for complete details about this option.
Post Testing Option (correspondence courses only)
School officials may wish to have students complete a post-test upon completion of their courses as an additional requirement for successful completion of their credit recovery program. Keystone Credit Recovery will provide free testing packages with answer keys to those schools that request them.
Post-tests are administered on-site by a designated school official and scored for immediate results. The final weight given to completed post-tests is entirely up to you.
For some schools, the results of the post-test determine whether or not a student receives a passing grade, regardless of how well a student may have done with the written assignments, exercises and projects completed in their courses.
Other schools have students take post-tests but place no value on the results, instead using the evaluation results of courses to determine final grades. In this case, post-tests function as an "honesty tool" used to ensure that students are doing their own work. For other schools, the use of post-test results falls somewhere in between.
For best results when using post-tests as part of your summer school program, please use the following guidelines:
- Inform students up-front and prior to enrollment that they will have to take post-tests for each subject they complete.
- Administer post-tests as soon as possible, following the completion of courses.
In-House Classroom Option
School officials may elect to use our curriculum to operate their own in-house summer school program. This allows schools to run and operate their own summer school program without the need for a large staff or a minimum number of enrollments to offer a particular subject.
You can run a complete on-site correspondence and/or online program for multiple grade levels, providing a variety of course offerings, needing only the staff required to ensure a quiet, proctored environment. Keystone Credit Recovery handles all record keeping, reporting and evaluation services.
In most cases, schools determine the number of students enrolling and place a bulk order with Keystone Credit Recovery. Materials and blank Enrollment Applications are shipped UPS to the school prior to first day of their summer school program.
The school registers and enrolls students on-site. Completed Enrollment Application forms, along with payment, are returned to Keystone Credit Recovery for processing. Keystone creates files for all enrolled students. Students complete their self-directed courses in a proctored environment.
Schools are free to determine and set the amount of tuition to be charged over and above the initial cost of enrollment in the Keystone program. This allows schools to cover the costs associated with running their on-site program.
