How It Works: Grading and Evaluation

How students are evaluated

Students must return completed materials on or before their assigned due dates.

Online Students   Correspondence Students

Online Students submit their work online and receive immediate feedback on most assignments. Online students taking either Part A or Part B in a subject are required to spend a minimum of 4 weeks and a maximum of 8 weeks working on the course. Online students taking both Part A and Part B are required to spend a minimum of 6 weeks and a maximum of 12 weeks on the course. A numeric grade will be applied within 10 days of completion of the course. Credit Recovery units will not be evaluated if returned before three weeks have expired from shipment date or if there is an outstanding balance due. After evaluation, a "Pass/Fail" report is issued promptly to referring school officials and students.

The "Pass" report will include evaluator comments ranging from poor to very good. To receive a "Pass" grade a student must meet the assigned due date, complete all work, and achieve a 75% competency level. "Fail" reports will include comments reflecting the reason(s) for failure (did not reach competency level, failed to meet due date, materials not complete, or materials never returned, etc.).

Grades are "Pass" or "Fail" only for correspondence courses. No letter or numerical grade is awarded. If a letter or numerical grade must be entered in a student's permanent record, it is our recommendation that the school assign its lowest possible passing grade or refer to the Comment-Grade ratio scale located on the student transcript report.
